19. What should I pack?

Pack light unless you plan to go out a lot in the evenings. Bring lots of shorts, t-shirts, light woven cotton garments (they are a lot cooler than knitted ones), sandals, sun block, and of course swimsuits. It's warm most of the time, and cooler at nights. It's cool in the shade especially if you are on or near the beach to enjoy the Tradewinds. In the winter, it can be quite cool at night and so it's a good idea to bring a light sweater or jacket. Don't forget your camera, snorkeling gear, cassette tapes, and CDs.

Bring a flashlight and batteries just in case there is an electrical power outage.

Straw hats are very much part of the beach scene

The quality of wine available in many stores in Jamaica is not always up to standard, probably due to lack of temperature control, so bring your own.

The range of brands for everyday items, like cereal, etc., is limited, so if you must have your favourite foods, bring them. Since you don't need much clothes, this is one way to fill up your empty suitcase space. Some repeat visitors, especially those from the USA and Canada where food is cheaper than in Jamaica) bring a lot of their basics.

It is not necessary to bring any towels or linens.
