22. Is there a lobster closed season?
Yes. The closed season runs from April 1 to June 30 every year. On no account should you buy fresh lobster during this time, regardless of the stories the fishermen/vendors may tell you. Established restaurants make the necessary arrangements with the government authorities in order to serve lobster during this time, so it's quite okay to enjoy lobster meals in these places.
I can tell you from personal experience, that since the lobster closed season was introduced a few years ago, there has been a dramatic improvement in the supply and quality of lobster available. So please, do your part for the long term future and support the lobster closed season. When it is open season, you may buy your fresh lobster from the Fisherman's Beach next door to Silver Sands or Villa Mart.
