. . . Honeycomb Villa, July '02

Dear Prem!

Sorry for replying to you so late but we stayed another week on the farm in Jamaica with the in-laws after our friends the Gretzinger's had left.

Our vacation was fantastic and we would sure do this again.

We were picked up on time by a smiling Trish and Trevor at the airport in Mo Bay on the 28th of June. The drive back to Silver Sands was great. The bus was nice and spacious and fitted the nine of us with luggage No Problem. Trevor also gave a nice guided tour on the drive to the villa. We also found the cooler with Red Stripe and Pepsi a nice touch as it was nice to wet the lips after fighting through a hot and muggy Sangsters airport.

Our villa the Honeycomb was how we had imagined it. We had looked at the pictures on your sight as well as Rosemary and I had checked it out at Christmas time. Perhaps a privilege that is not available to most of your clients.

The staff at Honeycomb were also wonderful.

Lorna, the master chef, cooked us some awesome Jamaican cuisine during our stay. We had jerk chicken, curried chicken, roasted leg of pork with crackling, rice and peas, lobster, yams, breadfruit and too many delicious home-made desserts to mention. Most of the foods we purchased at Chen's in Duncans and all the fruits & vegetables from Miss Virgie. Our friends enjoyed the haggling with Miss Virgie and her "expensive vegetables". A friend of ours have dubbed her stall "The Harrods of Duncans".

(A good place to purchase meat besides the meat shop in Duncans is L& M meats in Salem, but one needs transportation to get there unless Cynthia at Chen's can place an order.)

Paulette was our housekeeper and she not only kept up with washing our clothes daily, but also managed to make sure our beach towels were fresh and bedrooms and washrooms tidy. They were kept hotel style. Also doing the laundry during our stay wasn't an easy feat as we both had power cuts and water shut offs. Not that we worried though because with the pool we could always get water to flush the toilets.

KenRoy, the gardener/waiter/jokester, is a story of his own. We found him early every morning in the kitchen preparing our fruits for breakfast and at supper time he set up two nice tables and served us dinner. After supper he joined us on the patio for a drink and kept telling us jokes and teaching the kids magic tricks with bottles. He sure had us in stitches many times and the kids all would have loved to take him back to Canada. We also got Ken Roy to join us one evening for a late night dip in the ocean.

As for problems we had none to report. All your staff at CCV in Duncans were all very helpful. Trish and Angela arranged for us to have Trevor take us one day to Ocho Rios. We went to Dunn's River to climb the falls and then a stop off in the town to do some shopping. Trevor also picked us up one morning to bring us down to Glistening Waters as we had booked a deep sea fishing excursion on the Suzy Q.

Ocho Rios is OK except, the straw market. We all had a great time at the falls and afterwards we shopped at the new Island Plaza. A great place with many nice stores and restaurants including Margeurittaville which has a nice slide and pool for the kids to chill out in after shopping. We also made a stop at the Taj Mahal shopping center across the road which is also ok. We found the shopping at Holiday Inn plaza Mo Bay a waste of time but perhaps it was just us. Only so many T-shirts and wood carvings one can look at.

The deep sea fishing was also a great adventure as none of us had never done this. The seas were pretty rough but with help of gravol we all stayed healthy. Before we set out we were taking bets on who would catch the biggest Marlin. However none of us did but we caught fish, the biggest a 9 lbs Tuna and that was a thrill. We also had Suzy Q take us to Harmony Hall for lunch and a swim. The waters there were very calm so we had a nice time. The only person that suffered this day was Trevor as we had told him we would be back by 1pm. We didn't get back until 3pm so the poor soul had been driving up and down the highway a few times looking for us, but he didn't seem to mind.

Prem:

Silver Sands is a very nice villa resort. We met many people there who were returning guests for more than 10 years. One family had been back 17 years in a row. Not sure if they all had made bookings through CCV but that in itself speaks highly of Silver Sands. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to re-book with CCV again, nor recommending you to our friends and families. As I said we all had a great time and the Gretzinger family have told us that this trip to Jamaica was their best family vacation ever. As you know we visit Jamaica on a regular basis, but even for us the villa was fantastic.

Rosemary was also very impressed how well everything functioned as many times in Jamaica "soon come" is the mode things work in.

Just a note to you Prem. It would be nice if your site would have a guideline to how much one should leave as a tip for the villa staff.

Will send some pictures once I can get them down loaded.

Once again many thanks Prem and CCV for making our holidays a great success. We will be back.
