. . . Je Suis Content, February '02

Dear Prem,

Tom and I want you and all of your staff to know how much we enjoyed our stay in the lovely village of Silver Sands.

It didn't take long after our arrival to realize that Je Suis Content was, in fact, our state of mind.

Lisa pampered me to the extent I have never known before ... we both truly enjoyed the culinary adventure which she created for each and every meal. We simply told her that we enjoyed fresh seafood/shellfish and chicken, and left the rest to her. The flavors of the dishes she prepared, the incredible fresh fruit, and the beauty of enjoying our meals on the veranda overlooking the beautiful sea were absolutely outstanding. Lisa kept our home and clothes clean -- the only dirty laundry we took home was the swimsuits we wore on Friday morning before we departed around noon on Friday. All I had to do when I got home was simply to unpack and return our clean clothes to their appropriate places.

When we met you and your staff on the Friday evening of our arrival, it was funny that everyone knew me because of my numerous e-mails. I'm skeptical, and had a hard time accepting everything I had read about Silver Sands on your web site - which, in fact, is an excellent web site. But, I am very glad to acknowledge to you and to your future visitors that all of my concerns were totally unwarranted.

I'm not sure there are words to adequately express the beauty and total relaxation we enjoyed at Silver Sands.

Neither of us have ever been to an "all inclusive" resort, and after having spent time at Silver Sands we aren't interested in an "all inclusive".

We enjoyed the adventure into Duncans for groceries on Saturday morning, our return trip to Duncans on Saturday night to "party" with the locals, to Fisherman's Beach to see the craftsmen, and then to Falmouth on Wednesday.

Mark acted as a personal concierge which was invaluable to both Tom and me. The intimate relationships we developed with Lisa and Mark cannot be found in an "all inclusive". We both felt that we experienced a little bit of authentic Jamaica, and not simply what a program director would have wanted us to experience.

The craftsmen at Fisherman's Beach were incredibly friendly and I am thankful we were not deprived of that experience.

I would like to share with you and future guests a couple of learning experiences. Tom and I took very little cash with us and planned to use the ATM card when we got there. It would be a great service if an ATM could be installed at Silver Sands.* Otherwise, please remind your guests to SIGN their ATM card and/or credit card BEFORE going to the bank. Tom had not signed his and that could have been a real problem. Also, please tell your guests to be SURE to take a picture ID (such as a drivers license) when they go to the bank in Falmouth. When we return - and WE WILL return - we will probably use travelers checks. One other suggestion is that you advise guests to take a pocket calculator to assist with the money conversion.

We're already talking to our friends in hopes of planning a return trip next February. Please tell any potential guests to feel free to contact me at counselor95@hotmail.com.

P.S. Please share this letter with Lisa and Mark ... they both will always have a very big place in both of our hearts.

* Note, there is now an ATM in Duncans which is just about a mile from Silver Sands.
