Guests' Letters . . . Blue Vista Villa, June '01
Prem, It is hard to put into words what we thought of the holiday we have just had. There are just not enough superlatives in the English language to do justice to the experience we all felt. Holidays are usually spoilt by some sort of family tensions, but we were so well prepared for this particular holiday (due to the comprehensive and accurate information we found on your web site) that this is the first holiday we have ever had that was totally free from these tensions. We all got out of the holiday exactly what we wanted. There were no arguments, and none of us could fault any part of our stay at Silver Sands. Answering some of your points more specifically. - we have already recommended you to everyone we have spoken to since our return - we chose to do business with you because of the very comprehensive nature of your web site. (It felt as if we had been there before because we seemed to know so much about everything, such as the villa names and some of the charachters down fishermans beach. Leroy, John Wesley, Nigel, Dawn and Omar all managed to sell us something. Errol appeared as expected and we arranged to go snorkelling with him) - we had no problems whatsoever -I don't think you could have done anything to make the visit more enjoyable -The villa staff were absolutely first class -ditto your office staff -ground transportation excellent - you bet we'll come back. (Unfortunately because of the kid's schooling we will not be able to do it at the same time of year) Just a couple of points you might be interested in. We were very apprehensive about making the booking, due to the possibility of internet fraud. We are probably far more adventurous in this respect than most people in the UK, who have real suspicion about the internet. It is a major purchase and if it had all gone wrong (i.e. you did not exist when we arrived in Montego Bay) then it would have turned into the holiday from hell. Virtually all our friends think we were slightly mad to make a booking direct with a Jamaican company, preferring to book holidays through a UK agent. When we tried to check you out against with the Jamaican Tourist Board there was no listing. We finally decided to "risk" it having found other internet references to Silver Sands and CCV. It seemed also that the colossal amount of work that has clearly gone into your website would have made it a very elaborate hoax, and we felt that there would be easier ways to pull scams if that was what you were really all about. But would it be possible for CCV to have a UK subsidiary say, affiliated to ABTA? I'm sure it put peoples mind at rest who would not dare book in the way we did. Many of the reports we heard from other British tourists who had visited Jamaica, was that street crime was very prevalant. We were nervous about our first excursion out of Silver Sands, to change money at Falmouth. It was very reassurring to be driven by Mark, who is such an imposing figure. He assured us it was safe and accompanied us to the Cambio - fantastic service. What more can I say. I think it was really summed up for me when at 2.00am on the day we returned, our 12 year old daughter came into our room sobbing her heart out saying she still wanted to be on holiday and when can we go back! Many Thanks.
