. . . Rum Jetty, February '01
Hi Prem:
I can't begin to tell you how much we enjoyed Rum Jetty. What a perfect place for 6 adults and 5 little ones to vacation.
Would we recommend it to friends? Absolutely not. We want to keep it all for ourselves.
We loved being lulled to sleep and awoken every day to the lapping of waves at our doorstep. The kids played all day in the gentle waters and literally dropped into comas at the end of the day as they were so tired. The ocean kayaks were frequently used, as well as the boogie boards and swing.
The layout of the building was ideal for a multi-family party. We appreciated the fact that you help to supply us with a highchair and an extra crib.
One of the greatest assets of Rum Jetty is its staff: Gloria, Judy and Marva (who I called "marvalous"). The food was exceptional and I am not exaggerating when I say that we all gained 5 pounds, despite the exercise. We ordered jerk chicken as our last meal - we couldn't get enough of Gloria's secret recipe - and the breakfasts were sensational. Four of us went with Gloria to the market on Wednesday and truly enjoyed the sights and sounds. My 2 1/2 year old was wide-eyed and stuffing herself with bananas the whole time.
Your organization was extremely professional. One perk was the pick-up and drop-off at the airport by Mark, who was gracious and on-time.
If we could make any recommendations, it would be that the tennis court needs repair, especially if you are going to charge people to play on it. The net is falling down and the cracks make playing challenging. We were on court religiously from 4 to 6 p.m. daily.
And, while we ate like kings, we found the food to be pricey. An itemized bill of the groceries, if it is possible with the local store (and I know that's tough), would be tremendously helpful.
Let me stress, though, that these complaints are minor. We absolutely loved Rum Jetty and have promised the staff and our incredible babysitters - Jenny, Mary, and Vanessa - that we shall return so that we can again enjoy its peacefulness and beauty.
