. . . Valhalla Villa,

. . . Prem, I just wanted to send
this note to let you know that Courtney and I had a
wonderful vacation at Valhalla. Having never booked a
vacation through the Internet before, we were nervous and a
little unsure as to what to expect, but everything was
perfect.
While standing in line in Customs, I was paged to go to the Information Desk. After clearing Customs and picking up my luggage, I proceeded to the Information Desk, to find my Welcome Committee waiting for me. It was nice sipping on a cold drink while taking the short drive (40 minutes) to the villa. On my previous visits to Jamaica it always took 2¸ hours to reach my destinations. So this short travel time was a welcome treat. Courtney arrived at the villa a few hours later.
Upon arriving at the villa, I was greeted by Valerie, our cook/housekeeper. She is truly a gem. She showed me to my room and gave me a tour of the villa. Also, she had prepared a delicious dinner for us which consisted of Snapper with her "special" sauce, tossed salad, Jasmine rice, fried plantains, vegetables and a Butter pound cake. This was just the beginning we were to find of many "special and delicious meals". Valerie really needs to publish a cookbook.
Both Courtney and I work crazy nontraditional hours and one of the things we wanted most of all on this trip was to be able to sleep late. Valerie adjusted her schedule to accommodate our needs. To this we say "thank you", for we ended our vacation, refreshed and relaxed. We both agree that because of her service to us: keeping the villa spotless, fixing outstanding meals, doing our laundry and on one occasion volunteering to go to the store to pick up something that Courtney wanted (which truly was going beyond her normal duties), that we left ready to face our world once again.
It was especially nice to have a private pool, so that in the evening after dinner we could swim and be lazy without leaving home.
The community is quiet, beautiful and well kept. The security presence while high, is not overwhelming. We were able to walk late at night (1:00 am - 2:00 am) and not feel uncomfortable. The beach is outstanding. I have visited three other beaches in Jamaica and this simply is the best beach in Jamaica. The staff at the office was always courteous and helpful and the staff at the beach bar, restaurant and shop were all professional and friendly.
After staying in numerous resorts were you are always a number in a crowd, and now having experienced staying in a villa where you the individual are made to feel special, well all we can say is that the villa vacation is the only way to vacation. This was absolutely the best vacation that we have ever had. We are already making plans to be at Silver Sands next year.
