. . . Endless Summer, July
'04
Dear Angella,
I got an email from Prem, seeking
feedback on my visit. Formality dictates that I should reply
to him with my review, but I think it is more fitting that I
write to you as the primary recipient of it - since it was
you with whom I dealt mostly, you who put so much effort and
energy into this vacation on my family's behalf, and truly
made me feel at home.

Donna and Aaron, above
left, and the whole group on the Jacob Taylor Beach at
Silver Sands.
I have been to Jamaica seven times. I thought I knew Jamaica
and most of its offerings. In fact, it was during one of my
early visits that I said I wanted to move to that country,
have dual citizenship or somehow become associated with such
a warm, beautiful, earthy place. But during none of my
visits did I feel as though I was returning HOME. Until this
past holiday.

The ladies, dressed in
white.
Meeting Ms. Una, Ms., Betty, and Ms. Merline were like being
reunited with my aunties. They fed us well, they told us
things we needed to know, they shared with us parts of their
lives and listened carefully as we shared stories of our
own. They took to my kids, as relatives would - and that was
most important. Leaving Endless Summer after eight days let
me know that the only benefit of leaving is knowing that we
would return.
Don with his (?) catch!
I really don't know that I am conveying the feeling of
gratitude I'm trying to express. I don't know that I'm
capable. I do know that God puts time, people and places
together, and the development of our friendship is proof of
His grace and another reason for me to give
thanks.
I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance
to see your grandmother again, or to meet your mom. Please
give them my regards and tell them that I'll soon be back!!!
Brandon, Andre, Roydel and "Sexy Girl," are too, too
adorable. Give all a big hug for me. And be sure to thank
Suzette for me for letting the girls visit with Peyton. She
recounts memories with them and wishes she would have spent
more time with the kids. (Peyton was torn between the beach
and the pool, so humans didn't get much attention.)
The men in
white.
THANKS, THANKS, THANKS for everything you did. Thanks for
helping to make this a wonderful experience for me and my
family. They had a ball, and I had a ball watching them have
a ball. We have already started planning for next year -
same time - only we may add Roots or Primrose Path to our
reservation.
Pictures for the web site are
forthcoming, as is another testimonial. I was just anxious
to share my feelings with you.
Much love,
Donna
