. . . Kamarr Villa, July 2004
We finally made it home at 9:30PM 9/15. We had the most wonderful time at the villa. The views and foilage were breathtaking. The villa was full of the most interesting books, magazines, maps, music, and other odds and ends we never had a boring moment.
... We all loved having the pool to swim in and stay cooled off, however the pump was broke except for our first day and the pool was beginning to turn green after our 2nd day.
My Husband, myself, Mother, and Mother-in-law all hope that both our cook and maid, Thelma, Hope and their families are all safe. They took very good care of us while we were at the villa. Their friendliness, kindness, great cooking....., and smiles were something to look forward to every day. I'm still driving myself crazy trying to remember what was in the sauce they fixed for us one the nights we had lobster. It was out of this world, all I can remember was ketchup, garlic, mayonaise.. Anyway if they have a chance to see this please let them know how much we appreciate everything.
We also want to thank all the staff at the office at Silver-Sands. Angela was very informative about the area and attactions. She also spent numerous hours on the phone trying to find us someplace near the airport to stay before hurricane IVAN hit. You wouldn't even want to know how much trouble we had once we left the villa. We stayed up on a hill above the airport for six and 1/2 days. Let's just say it wasn't pleasant.
My husband and I would like to return to Silver-Sands in the future. We had a great time, it was very, very relaxing.
Thanks for all the information about the grounds and damage after the storm. Please keep in touch so we can watch the restoration of the beach area and pavilion. I've attached a couple of pictures that I think are pretty as postcards. Hope everyone enjoys them!
