All About Jamaica, Things To
Do Kayaking is a great sport for young
and old alike. This is open top kayaking- no rolls, no
skirting. It's very easy to get on and very easy to learn.
By Popular Request, we have started
to rent a limited number of items - kayaks, snorkel gear,
personal flotation devices, etc. See: It's a lot of fun in the waves but that does require some skill and strength. The main strategy for getting out past the shore break is to point the kayak directly into the oncoming waves. If you do not, the waves may rock you off or break and tumble you. However, when the sea is flat calm, like in the photo below, it's very easy, even for the young children. It's therefore better to go out in the early morning before the Tradewinds kick in. It's also a good idea to set off upwind when you are not tired. That way, if you do get tired, the sea breeze will blow you back to shore and make the return journey much easier.
